The happiest day

GDR, May 1, 1986. The International Workers Day. The six year old Monika has been waiting for this day for a long time. Today she gets to enjoy the cotton candy that was promised to her for some time. But, as always, her father is drunk and her mother, exhausted from all the years of disappointment, tries to prevent the family from falling apart. An unforeseen misfortune will change Monika‘s life forever. Paradoxically, this day will turn into the happiest of her life.
