The Isle
Tsvetana's (57) daily routine consists of her work as a teacher of art history and caring for her mother Penka (80) who was also once a teacher and now suffers from dementia. As summer comes to an end and winter approaches, their mutual dependence on one another begins to change: Penka gradually breaks away from her daughter, even if this happens almost imperceptible. The daughter continues running the household as usual, seemingly not aware of her mother silently bidding farewell.
“Ostrovcheto” is a film about the humility and the dignity of the human soul – that is: about love.
