When east suddenly appears to be west

The location of the deserted „Motor Pool Grünau“ in Berlin-Lichtenberg inspired the young director Ki Bun to raise the question: what causes the end of a form of society in an individual – if the new form of society suddenly seems to have no more room for the individual? What happens to a person, whose long-lasting working place does not exist anymore overnight whereby his life-task and social value is questioned – whose existence is suddenly expendable? Finding that one of the most difficult tasks of life is to be anchored in the “here and now” as people are torn between the longing look into the past and the worried look into the future, the filmmaker is mainly interested in the emotional level of a person who is seemingly unable to let the past go and therefore ends up in an identity crisis. The director, who up until now has worked in a scenic way, addresses this subject in fragmentary atmospheric imagery and sound on three different screens in the shape of a video installation, that intentionally offers the viewers their own space for thoughts.
