All texts, photos and films on our website are protected by copyright. Copying and any alteration of these files is therefore not allowed without the permission of the copyright holder. The “copying” of files onto a computer in order to view the WWW pages in a browser is not a violation of the copyright.

With the court verdict from may 12, 1998, the District Court of Hamburg (Landesgericht Hamburg) ordained that operators of internet websites are co-responsible for the contents of any website to which a link is provided. According to the district court, this co-responsibility can only be avoided if the webmaster explicitly distances himself from the content of the external website.

For all links from the dffb webpage: we hereby explicitly state that we have no impact on the webpage configuration, the possible violation of standing laws, including trademark and title copyright laws, nor the content of any externally linked websites.
We therefore explicitly distance from the link titles as well as all contents of all linked pages on our homepage and do not make their content to our own. This declaration applies to all links on our website and all the contents to which these links lead.

Privacy Statement

The protection of personal data is very important to us. At this point we inform you which personal data we collect for which purpose on our website (and, if applicable, the associated websites — e.g. our social media profiles or integrated services/offers of third parties — such as Google — etc.).

  1. A) The Responsible Person within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (German: Datenschutzgrundverordnung, hereinafter “DSGVO”) and other provisions of data protection law is:

DFFB Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin GmbH
Am Studio 16, 12489 Berlin
info@dffb.de

  1. B) Collection, Processing and Use of Personal Data

1.)      Personal data is such information which can be used to find out personal or factual circumstances (such as name, address, telephone number, e‑mail address). We collect, process and use personal data only insofar as this is permissible or ordered according to the DSGVO, the German Data Protection Law (German: Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (BDSG) or other European or German legal provisions or when the concerned party has given consent hereto. The general use of our website is possible without providing your personal data — as far personal data will be collected, this is on a voluntary basis only.

2.)      Your visit to our website is automatically logged. The IP address currently used by your PC, date and time, the browser type and operating system of your PC and the pages you are viewing are recorded. A reference to individuals is not possible. No other evaluation of the data, with the exception for statistical purposes in anonymous form, will occur.

The system must temporarily store the IP address in order to transmit the website to the visitor’s computer. For this purpose, it is also necessary to keep the IP address stored for the duration of the session. The resulting storage of data in log files is done to ensure the functionality of our website and to adapt it to the requirements of our visitors. We have listed under B) 5. how we use and process the data in detail (see below).

3.)      Provided that a visitor of our website registers for personalized services (e.g. ordering a newsletter, requests for information etc.), we ask for certain contact details or other personal data. The user is free to decide whether or not to provide this data.

4.)      Legal basis for the processing of personal data, provided that prior consent of the concerned person has been obtained, results from Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO; insofar as the processing is based on the fulfilment of a legal obligation, this is done in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c DSGVO.

In special cases in which the vital interests of the concerned party (or another natural person) require the processing of personal data, the legal basis for this results from Art. 6 para. 1 lit. d DSGVO. If processing is necessary for the protection of the legal interests of our company or third parties and the interests of the concerned party predominate, taking into account his fundamental rights and fundamental freedoms, the legal basis for this is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO.

5.)      In the context of using this website, your personal data will be processed by us primarily for the following purposes:

  • to provide information, respond to contact requests etc. via the contact form and/or a newsletter
  • for the statistical evaluation of cumulated and anonymized data
  • to prevent misuse/for security measures
  1. C) Deletion of Data and Storage Period

The personal data collected by us will be deleted as soon as the purpose of storage ceases to apply (deviating from this only if continuous storage is stipulated in a statutory provision, possibly for data processing). Deletion or blocking of data shall take place at the latest when the legally prescribed storage period expires, provided that there is no necessity for further storage of the data in order to conclude a contract or to fulfil a contractual relationship.

  1. D) Rights of the Concerned Persons

As the concerned person through the data processing, you are particularly entitled to the rights stated below, which arise in each case from the DSGVO.

D1)    Right to Confirmation and Right to be Informed

You are entitled (pursuant to Art. 15 DSGVO) to request confirmation of whether we process data about you and to receive information about this data and a copy of the data we have stored about you.

D2)    Right to Rectification and Right to Erasure

In accordance with Art. 16 DSGVO, you have the right to demand the rectification of incorrect data or the completion of your personal data stored at our company without delay. Furthermore, according to Art. 17 DSGVO, you are entitled to request the erasure of your personal data stored by us. This applies, unless there are other legal grounds on our part that prevent such action (this may for example be the right to freedom of expression, the right to inform third parties when fulfilling legal obligations; reasons of the public interest or the assertion, exercise or defence of legal claims on our behalf or on the part of third parties).

D3)    Right to Restrict Processing and Right to Object

According to Art. 18 DSGVO, you are entitled to demand the restriction of processing of your DSGVO, you are entitled to object if there are reasons arising from your particular situation or if the objection is directed against direct advertising.

Under Art. 21 DSGVO, you are entitled to object if there are reasons arising from your particular situation or if the objection is directed against direct advertising.

D4)    Rights related to automated individual decision-making, including profiling

According to Art. 22 DSGVO, you are entitled to be informed on the presence of automated decision making including profiling and on meaningful information about the logic involved, as well as the scope and the intended implications.

D5)    Right to Data Portability and Right of Appeal

Furthermore, in accordance with Art. 20 DSGVO you are entitled to receive data concerning you or to demand the transfer of this data to other responsible parties.

Moreover, in accordance with Art. 77 DSGVO, you are generally entitled to file a complaint with the responsible supervisory authority if you are of the opinion that the processing of personal data concerning you infringes the DSGVO or if we do not comply with other data protection regulations in accordance with our legal obligations.

For the assertion of your rights, please contact us by e‑mail at the following address: info@dffb.de

or, if you wish to contact us by mail, send us a letter to the address indicated under A).

D6)    Assertion and Cost Exemption

There are of course no costs for you when asserting the aforementioned rights.

  1. E) Hyperlinks to other websites

Our website contains hyperlinks to websites of third parties. As soon as you activate them, you are within the sphere of influence of this (other) website and subject to their data collection and data protection regulations.

  1. F) Use of Cookies

Generally, websites that use cookies contain a banner indicating the use of cookies. This allows you to decide whether you want to accept cookies or not. A cookie is a text file that is stored on your hard drive for a certain period of time when you visit a website or access a service (such as a plug-in). If you visit this website again, the cookie informs the server that there has already been a previous connection with the device, as well as other data stored in the cookie (such as a unique cookie ID). The server may use the information obtained in this way in various ways. For example, cookies can be used to control the display of advertisements or improve navigation on a website.

We use cookies on our websites in order to optimize the presentation and to be able to offer certain services — also from third parties, see under G). You may restrict or prevent the use of cookies through your browser settings. Please note that parts of the functionality of the webpage will then no longer be available, or only in limited form.

By using our website, you agree to the collection, processing and usage of your data — also by the indicated third-party providers — in the respectively described manner and for the named purpose.

You may manage cookies from some US companies via the US site http://www.aboutads.info/choices/, or via the EU site http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/

Cookies are used in particular for the following reasons:

  1. a) to know which pages or areas have been visited by the visitors of the website
  2. b) to secure the personal settings of the visitors of our website and to allow them simplified access in the future.

In the context of a), we compile aggregated statistics about the website visitors.

The legal basis in this regard is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO.

  1. G) Information about other integrated or (partly via button) linked services, such as various Google services and various social plug-ins

Third-party content such as videos from Vimeo, Facebook, maps from Google Maps or graphics from other websites are integrated into this website.

This requires that the providers of the content (hereinafter referred to as “third party providers”) perceive the IP address of visitors, since without such IP address the content cannot be sent to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is therefore necessary to visualize the content.

We have no influence on the storage of your IP address and other information (e.g. for statistical purposes) by third-party providers. Please refer to the relevant data protection regulations of the respective third-party providers as specified, for more information.

Third-party provider may be replaced over time, as well as third party provider may be removed or added. Only the currently published version of the data protection statement applies.

G1)    Google services

We have integrated the following Google services to our website:

G1a) Google Analytics

On our Internet pages we use the web analysis service Google Analytics (provider: Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google Analytics uses cookies, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how visitors use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website is generally transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. However, due to the activation of IP anonymisation on our website, Google will shorten your IP address within the member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases the full IP address is transmitted to the Google servers in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities and to provide the operator of this website with further services associated with website and Internet use. The IP address transmitted by your browser in the context of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of our website. You can also prevent Google from collecting data generated by the cookie related to your use of our website (including your IP address) and processing of this data by Google if you download and install the browser plug-in available under the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. In addition or as an alternative to the browser add-on, you can prevent collection by Google Analytics by clicking the following link: “Disable Google Analytics” <a href=“javascript:gaOptout();”> Disable Google Analytics</a>. This sets an opt-out cookie that prevents your data from being collected during future visits to our website as long as the cookie remains on your computer. Further information on Google’s use of data as well as possible settings and objections can be found on the Google website: “Google’s use of data when visiting our partners’ websites or apps” (www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/partners), “Google’s use of data for advertising purposes” (www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads), “Manage information Google uses to show you advertising” (www.google.de/settings/ads) and “Determine which advertising Google shows you” (www.google.com/ads/preferences)”.

G1b)  Google Maps

Our website includes the data service Google Maps (provider: Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) for the presentation of an interactive map and, if necessary, for the creation of a route description. This is a Google map service, through the use of which information about the usage of our website, including your IP address and, if you use the route planner function, the starting address, are transmitted to the Google Map service in the USA. When you access a page that contains the Google Maps service, your browser establishes a direct connection to Google’s servers. Google transfers the map content directly to your browser, which in turn integrates it into the website. We have no influence on the extent of the data collected by Google in this way. If you do not want Google to collect, process or use data from you via our website, you must deactivate the JAVA script in your browser settings — however, the use of a map display is then no longer possible.

For detailed information on the purpose and scope of data collection associated with Google Maps, the further processing and use of this data by Google, which rights you are entitled to in this respect and which setting options you have to protect your privacy, please refer to Google’s data protection guidelines at http://www.google.de/intl/de/policy/privacy/.

G3)    Jetpack/Wordpress.com stats

On our website we are using functions of the WordPress.com statistics tool “Jetpack”, which serves the statistical evaluation of our visitors’ access to our website. The provider of the tool is Automattic Inc. (60 29th Street #343, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA) using the tracking technology of Quantcast Inc. (795 Folsom Street, 5th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). The WordPress.com tool also uses cookies. The generated information about your use of our Internet pages is stored on a server in the USA. According to WordPress, the IP address is made anonymous after processing and before it is saved. You may refuse cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do so you may not be able to use the full functionality of our website. For more information about cookies and how to use them, please read the relevant section of our privacy policy.

You may object to the collection and use of your data by Quantcast with effect for the future by setting an opt-out cookie in your browser at this point by clicking on the link “Click here to opt-out”: http://www.quantcast.com/opt-out. Once you should delete all cookies on your computer, you will need to set the opt-out cookie again.

You may obtain detailed information about the scope of data collection connected with Jetpack at https://jetpack.com/support/what-data-does-jetpack-sync/; the purpose of data collection, its further processing and use by Jetpack, as well as the rights to which you are entitled in this respect and the setting options for the protection of your privacy can be found in Jetpack’s data protection information at https://automattic.com/privacy/.

  1. H) Newsletter

First, if you have given us your explicit consent, we will send you an e‑mail newsletter with general information (about us, our activities) and/or advertising information (hereinafter “newsletter”). For this purpose, we use the double-opt-in procedure, according to which you are added to the newsletter distribution list only after activation of a link sent to you for verification by e‑mail. This is especially to prevent the misuse of your e‑mail address.

Our newsletters contain information about our services, promotions, events, contributions/articles (you will find this information specifically on the website where you can register for the newsletter).

Depending on the purpose of the newsletter, a personal evaluation of the reading behaviour may take place to determine whether the recipients have opened the newsletter and whether or which links have been clicked. This is a function that we use for optimizations based on user activities as well as for personal, targeted advice of subscribers.
